WWCCA Rifle Programs Overview

Welcome to the WWCCA Rifle Community! We host the following programs at WWCCA:

Winter Slow-fire League runs from December through April and is held on the 100-yard range. This handicap league is open to all club members using any rifle (including Black powder cartridge or rim-fire) with any kind of sights. The course of fire during the Winter League follows the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program www.odcmp.com) for Garand/Springfield/Vintage rifle matches.
Course of fire is as follows:

  • 10 shots Prone slow-fire
  • 10 shots Prone rapid-fire
  • 10 shots Standing slow-fire

These matches are normally scheduled on the first Saturday of the month.

Spring Warm-up Match is held in May on the 200-yard range. This match follows the CMP Highpower Rifle format for a 50-shot match as follows:

  • 10 shots Standing slow-fire
  • 10 shots Sitting rapid-fire (60 seconds)
  • 10 shots Prone rapid-fire (70 seconds)
  • 20 shots Prone slow-fire

M1 Garand class held each May. This class is open to the both club members and non-members, and is designed for New shooters. The class is taught by a CMP Master Instructor and/or NRA Certified Rifle Instructor, to learn how to shoot an M1 rifle and to get an introduction to position (Standing, Sitting, Prone) rifle shooting. The class consists of two evenings of instruction followed by a CMP registered live fire Garand Match on the 100 yard range. This class is the ideal way to learn both the safe handling and operation of an M1 Garand, as well as the perfect preparation for participation in the WWCCA Rifle leagues. Participation also provides the proof of marksmanship activity required to purchase a rifle from the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Summer Rapid-fire League runs from June through October and is held on the 200 yard range. This handicap league is open to all club members using any center-fire rifle, with any sights. Highpower Rifle competitors (AR-15/M1A) run the CMP course of fire for a 50-shot match:

  • 10 shots Standing slow-fire
  • 10 shots Sitting rapid-fire (60 seconds)
  • 10 shots Prone rapid-fire (70 seconds)
  • 20 shots Prone slow-fire

Garand/Springfield/Vintage rifle shooters will follow the same format, except that an additional 10 seconds is allotted for the rapid fire stages. Additional time is allotted for shooters using Sporter hunting rifles with reduced magazine capacity.

John C. Garand Match held each October. This match is open to all club members, and is fired on the 200-yard range with as-issued M1 Garand rifles. Course of fire is as specified by the CMP: 10 shots prone slow-fire, 10 shots prone rapid-fire, and 10 shots standing slow-fire.
